Boycott the BCS

Every year we go through the same thing with college football and its bowl/BCS controversey. You know what, I'm tired of it, and I bet you are too. Is there any fan that actually prefers this system to a playoff? Do schools actually benefit from the current bowl system?

I say, throw tradition to the wind and dump all the bowls. Get rid of the whole system. Boycott them and they'll figure something out. Don't wait for the NCAA to get around to it, because it will be years before they do anything.

With these new things we have now called blogs, we can create a grassroots effort to boycott the BCS and put it out of its misery. We need a playoff and we want it by next year. How do we do that? Well, if nobody watched or attended the bowl games, I bet that would send a pretty strong message. So stay away, don't watch, don't attend.

It's one year, and while the many athletes that work hard all year deserve better, we have to think about the long run. We have no other way to force the NCAA to change other than simple economics.

Spread the word and boycott the BCS.

(note: if there's any pixel pushers out there, it'd be great to make a little badge that bloggers can put on their blogs. Let me know if you create something)

Don't concentrate on boycotting the games, that's not likely to happen. Boycott the sponsors. Tostitos (Frito-Lay) are not the only corn chips out there.

Cut off the money and the BCS will disappear fast.

I couldn't agree more my friend!!!!
I am glad I found your blog. I have been doing everything in my power to get people to boycott as many of the bowl games as possible. I am as uphauled as everyone else is about the current setup. I have talked to radio talk show hosts about it as well. They feel it is a longshot but if the grassroots movement took hold... i know we could hit the powers that be where it counts... advertising dollars. Please check out my blog as it mirrors yours and feel free to use any of the thumbnails. thanks, korey

Boycott the so called championship game and the sponsors, that is the only way the message will get through.

Personally, I can't stand the BCS. It is so unfair to all the other conferences. ("ALL" = those that are west of the Mississippi. ) I read someplace online by a sports journalist - who said it was all BULL._ _ _ _ . And I read that and went, I second that motion! I totally agree with that.
I grew up in CA , went to and graduated from a WAC school , so I have always loved the WAC . As a native Californian, the PAC 10 is king as we all know. So, I will always back the WAC, MOUNTAIN WEST, and PAC 10 conferences when the other conferences think they are all that. I was elated when WAC champion Boise State beat OU in a bowl game in 2007!! Its about time people know about the WAC!
Now here is where I want to state the real reason for this post today. I think they should abolish/get rid of/ or other wise eliminate the ridiculous vehicle in NCAAF called the BCS . I really do! I mean, who needs it?You know what I mean, since the BCS wasn't even around before the late 90s... ( circa 1998 or 1999) . We were all doing great ( fans and conferences) when we played football as always, and then looked forward to the 6 or 7 bowl games at the end of the season..( not 38 meaningless bowl games, the majority of which we fans could not give a tinkers damn about ), with the much loved, favored and favorite ROSE BOWL... to be played on New Years Day. End of story, and END OF SEASON. But what happened?
People got greedy, the coaches were jumping up and down in a state of kubrickian glee and had to worry about who the heck was Number 1 ! Like all that mattered in the world was that stinking # 1 title !!. Here is what I propose... and I am sure I am not alone in the sports world by saying that we should push for the following:

1. Take all the 12 conferences in Div 1 AA and have them represented by the winner of each conference ( ACC, BIG 12, BIG East, BIG 10, CONF USA, INDEPENDENTS, MAC, MWEST, PAC 10, SEC, SUNBELT, AND WAC) .
2 Take the 6 existing original bowls....... Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Peach , Gator, .. and pair up the games like this
ROSE - PAC 10 vs BIG 12
SUGAR - MAC vs Sunbelt
ORANGE - SEC vs ACC
PEACH - MOUNTAIN WEST vs WAC
GATOR - CONF USA vs INDEPENDENTS
COTTON BIG 10 vs BIG EAST
3 Have them play in playoffs.....
4. Take the winners of all these games and play a tournament based on the FINAL FOUR idea in basketball ( call it the final 6,, ( final 4 plus a pair of two )) since they have 6 remaining competing teams.
5.. The winners of the 6 games... end up with 3 final teams.... and they then play 1 more game.. one plays the winner of the last 2 .. and
6. THE WINNER of this final game - IS the undeniably undisputed NATIONAL CHAMPION.... and the BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME is : Kaput, finished, GONE!!!!

That is what I would personally love to see happen in my lifetime. I am sure, once again that I am not alone in this, but it will definitely be very interesting to see if ANYTHING can and will be done about the BCS in the future.
I know that the SEC and ACC conference fans and coaches will be crying foul and that it will NOT BE FAIR, etc. what I just proposed .. but, don't talk to us about FAIR! lol... Its NOT FAIR to exclude the other decent conferences from the BCS.... and NOT give everyone a fair and equal chance to shine . But I digress.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
